It doesn’t matter whether it’s for commercial or hobby purposes, under 500 gr or over. In provinces where flight is prohibited, such as Kocaeli and Istanbul, you cannot fly without fulfilling the permit procedure unless your residence is outside the area. What is this permit procedure?
Previously, we used to prepare a few documents, scan them and send them to civil aviation. Now you need to apply for an online permit by logging into your commercial or individual account at https://iha.shgm.gov.tr/. DGCA sends a letter to the governorship, to the relevant police unit in the governorship, on your behalf. If deemed appropriate, you will be informed via e-mail. These days, it can take up to 20 days for the permits to be finalized, you should definitely consider this before applying for the permit.
With your individual SHGM account, you cannot apply for a permit for hobby – sportive flights in residential areas, city centers. Only commercial flights are allowed in these areas. Your drone must be insured, you must have a radio communication document, your suit must be registered in the name of the company, and your operator must have a UAV – 0 or UAV-1 drone pilot certificate.
